The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández signed a regulation that legalizes the controlled medicinal cultivation and sale of cannabis products in authorized pharmacies.

Three years ago the entry into force of Law 27,350 allowed the medicinal use of the cannabis plant, as well as its scientific and medical research, however, it was not until this week that the Argentine state disclosed the regulations for its different forms of access.

This time, regulators will allow an unlimited number of pathologies for the use of this medicine and not only those suffering from refractory epilepsy.

“It is impossible to create a regulatory framework that allows timely, safe and inclusive and protective access for those who require the use of Cannabis as a therapeutic tool,” says the statement signed by the president.

The law includes the authorization of the personal and networked cultivation of users, researchers and patients who register from the Ministry of Health known as the National Cannabis Program (REPROCANN).

“Patients may register for cultivation authorisation for themselves, through a family member or family member, a third party or a civil organization authorized by the En implementation Authority. Anyone with a medical indication may register with the Reprocann and have signed the corresponding informed consent, under the conditions established by the program”, establishes the document.

This fact is seen as a great social victory in the South American country will put an end to the long criminalization of patients and users, as well as reduce illegal trafficking to move on to a state-regulated health alternative.
