CBD is authorized as a cosmetic by the European Union

European authorities recognize CBD as a beneficial natural component in cosmetics.

The European Union has accepted cannabidiol (CBD) or its hemp or cannabis extract to the list of authorised ingredients in the cosmetic industry.

This fact recognizes the CBD compound as a natural substance in CosIng. This list is a database of cosmetic substances or ingredients that can be used. Previously, CosIng  categorized only synthetic CBD, not the natural component.

From now on, CBD will be accepted “derived from extract or tincture or cannabis resin” and has been accepted to be used as an antioxidant, skin conditioner, antisebo and skin protector.

The EU Court of Justice historically accepted CBD in a recent ruling that CBD derived from hemp will not be considered a narcotic as set out in the UN Single Narcotics Convention in 1961.
