Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that cannabis taxes will allow at least 350 municipal jobs to be retained within the 2021 budget.

This was the agreement between the mayor and the Chicago Workers Federation. Some of the jobs that will be kept have to do with people working at airports and water funds.

Proceeds from the adult and medical cannabis market have soared in the state at least $100 million in January alone and $800 million in the first 10 months.

“This will ensure that Chicago’s public workers maintain their jobs and health insurance while protecting citizens’ services in these unprecedentedtimes,” a statement announces.
