This is the amount of CBD you must take to have therapeutic effects

Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant has great therapeutic effects that have been proven and reviewed even by the World Health Organization (WHO).

However, researchers have noticed that some oils that are sold freely do not generate the result that patients expect.

This can be, in the first place, because the product has either a poor quality or there’s a dosage problem. The CBD, helps for some discomforts, but does not help for everything as the majority of producers indicate.

The effective CBD dose

A research published Frontiers in Pharmacology, just found the effectiveness curve of CBD.

According to the researchers, the best dose of CBD is not the highest but a moderate or average dose.

“The CBD efficiency curve is a bell curve, that is, a higher dose is not necessarily more effective,” says the study.

Other research also proves that when it comes to CBD and given with other cannabinoids and other plant components, this problem disappears and the effectiveness of the treatment increases with each dose.

How to calculate my correct dose of CBD?

It is difficult to establish an exact dose of CBD for each person since the dose varies significantly according to weight, severity of symptoms, medications, lifestyle and patient weight.

Consequently, specialists recommend a low dose of 5 to 10 mg and a gradual increase until a necessary effect is achieved.

The difficulty lies in that in which the calculation of the dose on the product label. Some producers indicate the total amount of 100 milligrams and others, in percentages.

The simplest measurement to measure percentages is through counting the number of drops.

If this is the case, you should first calculate how many mg of CBD is in each ml of oil (coconut oil, sesame, olive, hemp, for example).

Thus, if an oil contains 25 ml of oil and a total of 250 mg of CBD means that each ml of oil contains 10 mg of CBD in each ml of oil, that is, 10 mg / ml.

If 1ml has approximately 20 drops, it means that each drop has approximately 0.5 mg of CBD, so a good dose could start with 1 ml taking this case into account.

How much is too much CBD and what are the dangers?

Forbes published an article (July 2019) where the writer claim that high doses of CBD could cause liver damage. Although this publication refers to an study conducted in mice.

The experiment was performed with high doses to measure the behavior in the kidneys. Some mice received up to 2400 mg per kilogram of body weight in less than 24 hours.

Dosage of the same formula followed for days contributed to the result and liver injury occurred shortly thereafter in those who received more than 615 mg per kilogram each day.

Indeed, they are investigations carried out with abnormally high doses of consumption and have received harsh criticism from specialized experts for their “alarmist tone.”

According to experts, both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other doctors recommend a dose of 20 mg daily and a maximum of 30 mg.

Despite this, even in the clinical trials of the first drug to be approved by the FDA, “Epidiolex,” the subjects experienced an increase in liver enzyme levels. This warning appears on the side effects of the medication.

This concern still persists within the manufacturers. Concern about long-term liver damage in people who use high daily doses of CBD is still under investigation. These are children and adults with acute diseases such as epilepsy.

It is recommended to those who need very high doses approximately 15 mg per kilogram of weight to have a periodic liver function test to check that everything is functioning normally.
