Half of patients with kidney disease use cannabis to control symptoms

50% of respondents would likely try or definitely try cannabis for control of all 10 symptoms

Compartir:

A study published in July 2022 revealed that more than half of respondents would use cannabis to manage 10 symptoms associated with kidney disease.

The analysis was performed in Canada using the survey method. Of the 320 people consulted, 50% had already used cannabis, mainly recreational use (84/160), pain relief (63/160, 39.4%) and improved sleep (56/160, 35.0%).

The degree to which respondents considered cannabis for each symptom was assessed with a modified Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 (anchored to 1 ‘I definitely wouldn’t’ and 5 being ‘definitely would’). 50% of respondents would likely try or definitely try cannabis for control of all 10 symptoms.

“Many patients with kidney disease use cannabis and there is interest in trying cannabis for symptom control” the research group concluded.
