We are in 2020 and Springfield, and the city of the Simpson family, also decided to legalize cannabis. This is also the first episode of The Simpsons’ 11th season, “Highway to Well,” and Marge gets a job at a high-end cannabis dispensary.
The episode portrays the legal cannabis world with a certain nostalgic look of times of prohibition.
“It’s not about high, it’s about wellness,” says Tyson Ranks, Marge’s new boss.
The reference is also from real life. “TYSON Ranch” is the a business of Mike Tyson, the former boxer.
In the new technological world where the Simpsons of 2020 – or of the eleventh season – take place, Homer will play an important role in the mirror of a not so distant past, but so different from the present.
This is undoubtedly an entertaining episode where the symbols and values previously associated with the reefer and other exaggerations of those who come to the marketing of the new legal world are reinterpreted.
